Sand Castles...Village Players...LATEST TICKET NEWS

Many will have noticed the set building in progress for the much anticipated Village Players 'on the green' production of Sand Castles. If you haven't yet booked, and want to guarantee a seat on the night, there are still some tickets available online (see below) for the Thursday 22nd June performance - Saturday and Sunday pre-bookings having sold out quite quickly. There will also be, for each night, a limited number of tickets available 'on the door'. However, if (shock horror) the weather happens to be inclement, the production will decamp to the Dunn Village Hall where seating priority will be given to those who have pre-booked.

The seating area will open at 6.00pm for each 7.30pm performance (Thursday to Saturday). Bring your own picnic.

Tickets for just £10 available via a link you will find on the Players' website

Local Artist's Open Studio - last chance to see

Last chance to catch local Artist Christine Hayes, who's paintings have been highly praised by those who have already visited her exhibition. Warbleton's defibrillator - Book your Know How session place

Following the success of the local fund-raising campaign, the Warbleton publicly accessible Defibrillator (AED) has now been purchased and is installed on the outside of the Black Duck.

For everyone keen to be better prepared to help in an emergency a free CPR/AED Know How session will be held in the Warbleton Church Halls at 7.00pm on Thursday 13th July 2017. It will be run by volunteers from our local Heathfield First Responders team and will include information about what to do in an emergency, with a chance to try out CPR and use of the defibrillator. The fund-raising campaign was supported by Warbleton Church, the Black Duck and Warbleton Parish Council - and was initiated by ResuscitUs, the local project behind seven other community defibrillators in and around Rushlake Green. To book a place on the Know How session, pick up a leaflet at the Rushlake Green Village Stores.

The Big Lunch - Sunday 11th June

Congratulations to everyone in the organising team for the best ever Rushlake Green Big Lunch. People we talk to agree that this was a truly exceptional day of local community spirit. All the hard work paid off, with an event that worked in every detail. Everyone was kept informed beforehand, ensuring a massive turnout on the day. The Big Lunch setting looked fabulous, the music/entertainment was great and people were impressed by the amazing range of seriously good raffle prizes. But more than anything, this year created a wonderful atmosphere in which people mingled, chatted and caught-up with friends, and in many cases discovered new neighbours. We are very lucky to have such a perfect green around which to congregate community activities, and we are equally lucky to have Louise Philps as the hard-working champion of this highlight of the village year. And we understand the raffle raised more than £1,000 for the chosen charity - the Hospice in the Weald (cottage hospice) in Five Ashes. Well done all.

Get into the community spirit - Support our local shop

Now that summer really is here, it's worth remembering that the Rushlake Green Village Stores has loads of things just right for a spur of the moment party. Drinks, nibbles, barbecue stuff, ice cream, strawberries . . . . And often at prices that compete well with even the best supermarket prices.

Yes, the Lucinda Williams - De La Warr Pavilion

'One of America's finest rock, folk, blues, and country music singer/songwriters performs at the De La Warr Pavilion this September.' This is an amazing coup, to get such a big name on our doorstep at Bexhill-on-Sea, and not to be missed. 'Hailed by Time magazine as “America’s best songwriter”, Lucinda Williams is a three-time Grammy winner whose distinctive style, expressive voice, and deeply personal songwriting has made her one of the most critically acclaimed artists of her era.' Tickets still available at time of writing this. .
